EXTREME METAL ALBUMS
Every year —for the last 10 years o so— I spend more than 50% of my time I dedicate to music, listening to new (fresh from the year) albums. That way I make sure not the a 41 year old bitter Mexican saying «Music sucks these days», it doesn’t, and extreme metal is no exception, every year seems to be better than the former. So here’s my Top 5 of Extreme Metal albums.
05. Impure - Satan’s Eclipse
This American duo created a musical masterpiece combining the basics of black and death metal for their album debut. Rising from the majestic collective that is Negative Plane, this guys made fresh new music with old know elements.

04. Sinmara - Hvísl Stjarnanna
Icelandic black metal is the best thing that has happened to black metal in a long time. Their eerie atmospheres combined with their chaos loving themes, makes it a whole experience to listen.
Recommended track: Úr Kaleik Martraða
03. Aoratos - Gods Without Name
American black metal is no stranger to great massive sounds in extreme music, this one-man outfit debut album is as brutal as it is compelling, proving that concepts matter more over musical techniques.
Recommended track: The Watcher on the Threshold
02. Andavald - Undir Skyggðarhaldi
This album goes beyond music, it’s a whole emotional experience as every extreme metal album should be. It’s compelling since the beginning and it continues to grab you by the neck with its blend of chaotic atmospheres and divine depression.
Recommended track: Hugklofnun
01. Funereal Presence - Achatius
Negative Plane’s drummer Bestial Devotion created this one-metal machine in 2011, and this year conquered the tormented souls with Achiatus, no matter how brutal it may seem, there’s a lot of rock and roll catchiness in the riffage, blending perfectly with the unorthodox lead guitars. One of the best albums of the decade.
